Below we have gathered answers to frequently asked questions, both general and specific for the international trainee programme, summer project and thesis collaboration.
General questions
Answers to general questions about careers in Statkraft, such as how our application and recruitment process works.
All open positions in Statkraft are announced on our website. If you find anything of interest, we ask that you apply directly. To ensure that each candidate is given a comprehensive and fair assessment, we only accept applications uploaded via our online application form.
The recruitment process in Statkraft is straight forward, transparent and fair. We advertise our vacancies and in our social media channels.
All applications, CVs and necessary certificates must be submitted online. Please note that attachments should be in the same language as the job advertisement.
Once you submit your application, the following will happen:
- Once Statkraft has received your application, you will receive an e-mail confirming your application.
- A recruiter will handle your application once the application deadline has passed.
- If you are a suitable candidate, you will be invited to a first interview. There may be several rounds of interviews before the selection process is completed. Interviews may also include a psychometric test, an occupational personality test and/or a case. During the interview(s), Statkraft wants to get to know you, but it’s also important that you get the opportunity to find out whether Statkraft is the right fit for you.
- The selected candidate will receive an offer from us, and the remaining candidates will be notified that the position has been filled.
Statkraft offers internships based on internal demand. All internships in Statkraft are announced on our website. If you find anything of interest, please apply directly via the advertisement.
Statkraft also offers a summer project for students. The summer project runs over 8 weeks, usually from mid-June to mid-August each year. All students who are in their 2nd to 5th year can apply for the summer project, and we usually hire 6-8 candidates.
Statkraft offers part-time jobs for students based on internal demand. All part-time jobs in Statkraft are announced on our website. If you find anything of interest, please apply directly via the advertisement.
The cover letter and CV should be in the same language as the text in the job advertisement.
Statkraft’s work language is English, so it is not a requirement to speak Norwegian. However, certain positions may require proficiency in Norwegian or other languages, but this will be stated clearly in the job advertisement.
Trainees
Answers to specific questions about Statkraft's international trainee programme.
The trainee positions are announced around September/October each year. All the trainee positions will be published on our website.
The general requirements for applying to the trainee programme:
- You have a master’s degree with good results
- You are a positive team player who enjoys collaborating with others
- You are looking for a steep learning curve
- You are enthusiastic, take joy in your work and want to be part of the further development of Statkraft
- You are flexible in terms of tasks and mobility
You will find more detailed information about who we are looking for and the specific requirements in the respective trainee job advertisements.
- The programme is a 16-month long learning and development programmes tailored for recent graduates and young professionals with limited work experience. The objective is to develop Statkraft’s future leaders and specialists while at the same time providing them a solid understanding of Statkraft’s organization and operations.
- Our 16 month programme entails three different work rotations, of which at least one will be abroad
- The programme is tailored to the trainee’s background and the unit’s competence needs
- There will be held regular courses and joint sessions where the trainee group meets
Statkraft usually hires between 10-15 trainees each year. The trainee positions vary each year, depending on demand from Statkraft’s different business areas.
The deadline for applying depends on when the trainee positions are posted. However, the deadline will always be stated clearly in the job advertisements and is usually in October. The trainee programme usually starts on September 1st. It’s possible to start the program earlier in agreement with the relevant department/contact person.
Yes, you can apply to several positions that are relevant for you.
Yes, the trainees are permanently employed in specific positions, where they will continue to work after having completed the 16 month trainee period.
As Statkraft’s work language is English it is not a requirement to speak Norwegian. However, certain positions may require proficiency in Norwegian or other languages, but this will be stated clearly in the job advertisement.
The trainee programme consists of three rotations, where we highly recommend having at least one job rotation abroad.
Summer project
Answers to specific questions about Statkraft's summer project positions.
The summer project is announced in the spring each year, usually around March. The summer project positions will be published on our website.
All students who are in their 2nd to 5th year of study can apply for the summer project.
The summer project is an initiative hosted by Statkraft each year which includes candidates from different academic and cultural backgrounds. The candidates will be working intensively together as a team on topics that are relevant and important to Statkraft.
Statkraft usually hires 6-8 candidates for the summer project each year.
The summer project period runs over 8 weeks, usually from mid-June to mid-August.
The placement for the summer project depends on the project. Examples of previous placements; Oslo, New Delhi and Düsseldorf.
As an international company, Statkraft’s work language is English. We recruit summer students from universities across the world, so Norwegian is not a requirement.
Thesis collaboration
Answers to specific questions about collaborating with Statkraft on a master's thesis.
Several students have written their master’s thesis in collaboration with us, and we always welcome great ideas. If you are interested in doing so, we advise you to contact post@g2thf.com. and provide an executive summary with detailed information about your topic, the area of Statkraft you wish to collaborate with, and the timeframe that you are working within.
Please note that due to a heavy volume of requests, it’s not always possible for us to respond to every request and find suitable advisors.
Recruitment fraud
Statkraft is experiencing that both individuals and organisations are targeting our company and you, our prospective employees, with recruitment fraud.
Please note that neither Statkraft nor any of the organisations that recruit on our behalf will ever ask for any payments from applicants at any point in the recruitment process. All individuals who are offered employment with Statkraft are always required to go through a formal recruitment process.
During our recruitment process you will always meet in person with a Statkraft representative for an interview before any formal offer is made.
Also note that if you were to receive any emails from someone claiming to be a Statkraft employee, the address would always end with @g2thf.com or relevant country domain.
LinkedIn is an important global professional network and a prioritised channel for future recruitment. We strongly recommend that you only connect with people that you trust.
Warning signs that may indicate fraud
There are a number of things you need to watch out for. Fraudulent recruitment activities often include the following:
- Requiring money from applicants (e.g. for ‘visa fees’, taxes, a percentage of travel expenses)
- Offering unrealistic compensation and benefits packages
- Requesting personal information such as passport and bank account details at an early stage of the process
- Sending emails from free web-based email accounts such as Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail or Live.com
- Hiding the caller ID during phone conversations
- Insisting on urgency
- Issuing offers of employment in international locations on non-local conditions
- Using poorly formatted documentation
If you suspect a recruitment fraud, what should you do?
We recommend that you do not respond to unsolicited business propositions and/or offers from people with whom you are unfamiliar.
If you ever have doubts regarding the legitimacy of an email, letter, website or any other information relating to Statkraft, please email your concern or question to spam@g2thf.com. Include contact information so that we may communicate with you directly if necessary and follow this procedure to avoid that any important information is lost:
Attach the original message – generate a new message and send the original message as an attachment.
Please inform us where you originally registered your resumé or application. In addition and for your own safety, you should address the issue directly with the company where you registered your resumé as they may need to take action as well.
Preserve the original message – please do not change the original subject line of the email you received or edit the message content in any way. Save the original message for 30 days to assist further investigation should it be required.
If you have been tricked to send money to an organisation or person or sent passport or other sensitive information to unauthorised sources, we advise you to contact your local police office.
